HOW TO BE PARISIAN:
STYLE ATELIERS AT SOFITEL FRANKFURT OPERA
IN-HOUSE FASHION CONSULTANT CARINE LANDAU OFFERS ADVICE IN EXCLUSIVE WORKSHOPS

Combining French elegance with Frankfurt warmth – a new service has been launched with in-house stylist Carine Landau. Together, the hotel and the Parisian style consultant and new Frankfurt resident organise quarterly workshops in which Landau initiates participants into the style secrets and the ‘Art de Vivre’ of the Parisians. In the Style Ateliers, Landau advises guests of the hotel as well as locals on image and style issues as well as on how to appear confident in terms of body language. She pays special attention to combining elegance and purpose so that participants in the Style Ateliers can easily integrate newly gained insights into their everyday lives.

From a fashion perspective, the connection between Mainhattan and the home of haute couture is becoming ever closer. Frankfurt’s creatives are making every effort to turn the Main metropolis into a fashion city, and Sofitel Frankfurt Opera is doing all it can to support them. As Rolf Krämer from the Hessian Ministry of Economics announced at the fifth Frankfurt Fashion Lounge (FFL) at the beginning of July on the catwalk in the hotel, the creative sector in Hesse generated 15.4 million euros last year.  Even during the pandemic, it was able to record growth and achieved its highest turnover to date last year. Frankfurt is also still in the running for the title of World Design Capital, the World Design Organization’s decision on this will be made in September 2023.

With the hotel’s participation in the first Frankfurt Fashion Week in July 2021, Sofitel Frankfurt became a showcase for fashion presentations for the first time. As part of the Frankfurt Fashion Lounge, the terrace of the Schönemann restaurant on Opernplatz was transformed into the fashion event’s largest open-air runway, offering a total of nine young designers the opportunity to present their collections on a unique catwalk. The Fashion Week has since moved on, FFL initiator Sevinc Yerli continued with her own Fashion Week, which celebrated its fifth anniversary at the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera on 30 June and 1 July. Yerli is particularly concerned with promoting young designers and offers them a stage on the catwalk in the five-star hotel on Opernplatz. She secured celebrity support for this in the form of Germany’s Next Topmodel winner Kim Hnizdo, who not only hosted the event but has also been an FFL ambassador since this summer.

Frankfurt residents and guests need not fear a fashion dry spell until the decision is made as to whether there will be a sixth Frankfurt Fashion Lounge. Carine Landau is the ally of fashion-savvy guests and future fashionistas in matters of style at the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera.  An internationally experienced image consultant with professionalism and empathy, the Parisian-born stylist brings her French flair and expertise to guests’ wardrobes, helping them to underline their personality through their appearance. In quarterly style ateliers, she provides intimate advice to participants and lets them in on the style secrets of Parisians.

The next style atelier will take place on 14 September and will focus on the famous ‘je ne sais qoui’ of Parisian women and how this can be achieved through the targeted use of fashion and body language. Landau focuses on the question: What do I want to say with my outfit? Participants will learn all about the key pieces that every Parisian has in her wardrobe and in which situations they are best worn.

On 26 October, there will be an event exclusively for men, who will learn what inspires Parisians in fashion and how they can convince with their posture and charisma.

At the end of the year, a pre-Christmas Style Atelier will follow on 14 December, focusing on one of the most important items of clothing: the shoe. They are essential for how we move and often also how we feel when, for example, the proverbial shoe pinches. The self-confessed lover of high heels will also discuss which footwear suits which life situation in the December workshop.

The fashion ateliers start at 6:30 pm and last around two hours.  Appointments can be booked via Carine Landau’s website.

Carine looks forward to sociable evenings in which she helps the participants discover their certain something: “The guests are the heart of the evenings. What counts is their uniqueness, this immense potential waiting to be revealed!” She emphasises, “With the Style Ateliers, I want to help participants bring out the best in themselves. My experience has shown that the relaxed atmosphere in an exclusive group is enormously conducive to this. Because sometimes an outsider sees something in someone that you don’t perceive so directly yourself.”
