KEY TO EXCELLENCE IN SUSTAINABILITY: SOFITEL FRANKFURT OPERA HONOURED WITH GREEN KEY ENVIRONMENTAL SEAL OF APPROVAL

Since March 2024, Sofitel Frankfurt Opera has been the proud holder of the prestigious Green Key certificate, which recognises the commitment of tourism businesses to sustainability. Receiving the label marks a significant milestone and recognises the commitment to environmental protection of the hotel.

Green Key is a voluntary international seal of quality for environmental and sustainability aspects of the environmental education organisation Foundation For Environmental Education (F.E.E.); in Germany, the label is administered by the German Society for Environmental Education (DGU). The aim of the certification programme is to raise awareness among tourism and leisure facilities, promote ecologically responsible behaviour, increase the use of sustainable working methods and technologies and reduce the consumption of natural resources. Over 5,000 facilities in more than 60 countries worldwide currently carry the label.

To qualify for Green Key, businesses must fulfil strict criteria in the areas of environmental management and sustainability education. Compliance with the high standards is confirmed by a complex certification process and checked with regular on-site audits. In this way, Green Key gives guests the certainty that they are doing something for the environment by staying at a certified establishment.
